5 Festive Drinks to Celebrate with This Holiday Season
BY JACQUELYN DUGGAN

The holidays are upon us, and I’m in the mood to celebrate with a festive drink!

Here’s my round-up of 5 drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, + a few snacks thrown in for good measure!) that I love and recommend this holiday season.

The Vesper Martini* (which we jokingly coin, “The Duggan Martini”)

+ This boozy gem has become a favorite in our house, particularly during the holidays. The Vesper Martini has three simple ingredients: gin, vodka, and Lillet blanc – so like I said, it’s boozy. However, it’s so smooth, and I love it for its lemony finish thanks to the Lillet blanc. It pairs beautifully with a crisp cracker, brie and fig preserves.

Clementine Sage Gin Smash*

+ Clementine, sage and gin? Count me in! Three of my favorite flavors combined makes for a lovely cocktail. It’s herb-forward, a little tart, and just a touch sweet; a fun sipping cocktail that everyone will enjoy. This would pair well with these prosciutto pinwheels!

Cranberry Prosecco Fizz*

+ This oldie-but-a-goodie is just that: a classic that never disappoints! The tart cranberries mixed with a crisp prosecco is a perfect combination, not to mention the Grand Mernier (orange liqueur) – don’t skimp on this part! The orange liqueur provides a citrusy finish that balances the cranberry. Topped with a sprig of rosemary, and this cocktail is not only a delicious start to a holiday evening, but pretty too!

Spiced Blood Orange Shrub

+ When December hits, I find myself craving citrus – I’m ready for all the oranges and grapefruit I can get a hold of. The spice-citrus flavor combination is divine, and gives a reprieve from other alcoholic options this holiday season. This would be yummy with Food & Wine’s Four Citrus Salsa recipe with sliced avocados.

Eggnog Tea Latte

+ I heard about this delightful drink on Instagram last year and I absolutely fell in love with it. I made mine with Earl Grey tea, and it felt like a hug in a mug! Perfect to cozy up with on a cold, wintery day. PS – If you’re dairy-free or vegan, the Minimalist Baker has a great vegan eggnog recipe!

Which of these festive beverages will you enjoy? I’d love to know which you choose and what snacks you pair it with. Happy Holidays to you and yours this year!

*Please enjoy responsibly this holiday season.
