Outfit Styling Tips – Shoe Edition
BY CLARISSA MAUER
For me, there are two very distinct categories of shoes: practical and showstopping. I rarely find a shoe or brand that combines the two. So, if there’s a choice to be made when shoe shopping, I’m the type of person who will always buy what makes my heart sing over what I need.
However, living in NYC has really challenged my perspective. NYC is not only a walkable city, but it’s also a fashion-forward city, so choosing one attribute over another is not really an option, which has led to a lot of research and trial and error to find shoes that can get me through a full day on my feet while still looking fab.
Below is a list of brands and shoes that I find to be the best of both worlds!
Steve Madden Tackle Bone Leather Booties
I’ve had these ankle boots for two years and they’ve been my favorite fall and winter shoes. They’re easy to walk in and they give me the perfect amount of height.

Loeffler Randall Isla Ankle Boots
These ankle boots are great for a little pizazz and not going to lie, I forget they have a heel because they are that comfy.

Loeffler Randall Camellia Pleated Bow Heels
These are by far my comfiest pair of heels. They’re so easy to walk in (the ankle strap and thick heel – so good!) and they come in the most beautiful colors and prints.

Sarah Flint Perfect Emma
I love these all-day heels for a classic, chic look. They also have cushioning for the arch of your foot, which makes them so comfy.

Sarah Flint Rosie
I’m not a huge fan of flats, but sometimes you just need optimal comfort for a long day of walking. You can’t beat these classic loafers.
