I used to be eager to try a new shampoo or product. I would have a few different ones on hand and switch it up every once in a while. I had my go-to when my hair was dry, one when my color looked dull, etc. For this reason, it would take me forever to finish a bottle! Once we became nomadic, I knew I had to simplify. There was no room for me and my seven bottles of shampoo! And how could I justify this to my husband, who has his shampoo/conditioner/body in one– seriously, how is that a thing? This prompted my quest to find the “best all around.” I need to simplify and find products that really worked for every day. Below are the products I have stuck with, and my loyalty lies with these 6 hair and skin products!

Ouai Shampoo

This shampoo is genuinely a best all around. The biggest thing I have noticed is the volume it adds to my hair. I’m also typically picky about scents, but this scent is subtle and natural. It’s a rose fragrance with notes of Italian lemon, jasmine, and white musk– yum! A little goes a long way with it. The simple packaging doesn’t hurt either. My hair dresser uses Ouai on her hair so that confirmed my loyalty for me!

Ouai Conditioner

Similarly, a little goes a long way with this! I used to go through conditioner quickly because I felt I needed a lot for my hair to feel hydrated, but this has been such a gamechanger. It also has a subtle and natural scent that is refreshing. I got the “thick” one and will go down to the “medium” next time. It does feel a little heavy for my hair. I love that Ouai does have those options!

Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant

facial exfoliant

This is the product I have been the most loyal to for the longest. I’ve been using it for years! It is the priciest on the list, but I make it last. My skin doesn’t do well with exfoliating every day, and I have found that only about twice a week is all I need. I use a pea-sized amount. As I scrub, I can feel my skin texture getting smoother. It really refreshes my skin! And another great scent and simply beautiful packaging! Following this, I use the next product.

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

Settling on one everyday cleanser was hard for me! I had a few I enjoyed but settled on this one for its price and how it worked in many different instances. For me, this beat out many more expensive cleansers. I was hesitant to try at first because it says it’s for normal to dry skin and I have combination skin. However, it has actually helped my skin be overall more balanced. I use this both morning and night. I also use this following my exfoliant mentioned before. It ensures that my skin doesn’t feel dried out after the exfoliant. Plus, it has hyaluronic acid– which is a bonus for me! Now that I live in a drier climate, it is especially important to use something hydrating.

TJ’s Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Unfortunately, a hair mask wasn’t a priority due to not having much room while traveling. We typically stayed in each location for about a month, so I wanted to find something that would last me about a month so that I wouldn’t have to pack it for traveling to the following location. It was comforting that when I felt my hair needed a pick-me-up, I could run to Trader Joe’s and get this for less than $4. I also love that this mask you use in the shower instead of having to wear it all day and then rinse.

Scalp Massager

I had been hearing about these for a while and was definitely intrigued but hadn’t made the purchase. When I got my hair done recently, my hairdresser used it on me, and I loved it! The more I looked into it, it does seem to have significant effects on scalp health and hair growth. If nothing else, it’s a nice little scalp massage!
